Ed Harris will direct Bill Murray and Nick Nolte in the adaptation of THE PLOUGHMEN

Ed Harris (Appaloosa, Pollock) will direct a film adaptation of Kim Zupan’s 2014 novel The ploughmen AND Bill Murray, Nick NolteAND Owen Teague are set to Star.

The film is described as a “neo-noir thriller,” Harris said in a statement: “I’ve been trying to make this film for a while. It’s worth the wait to tell this intriguing story with a fantastic cast and crew and the beauty of Montana.

The film is set in the wilds of Montana, “where a strange friendship develops between a troubled young deputy sheriff and a notorious old killer.

“John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so skilled at his job that he has only now been arrested. Val Millimaki (Teague) is a short man in the Copper County Sheriff’s Department.

“As Val continues his unfortunate streak of finding bodies, the sheriff (Murray) puts him on night duty to try to get Gload to reveal his past. Val finds much in common with her prisoner and dangerously seeks advice from him.

Amy Madigan AND Lily Harris complete the film’s cast and production will begin in Montana this fall. The Plowmen will be the third film directed by Harris after the western. AppaloosaAND Pollock.
