Imax and Pathé Live are released in association with Mercury Studios and Queen Films Queen Rock Montreal Digitally remastered for Imax worldwide for four days in January.
The film of a live concert in Montreal in November 1981, directed by the late Saul Swimmer, will be shown for four days starting January 18 at more than 450 Imax locations worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, South -Africa, Brazil and Mexico markets – with Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon with “We Will Rock You”, “Somebody To Love”, “Under Pressure”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Another One Bites the Dust ” , ” We Are The Champions” and songs from the album The game.
“I don’t think we fully realized it at the time, but this film preserves one of the greatest highlights of Queen’s touring life, on stage in the old glory days. “The director focused a lot on Freddie and this is now probably the most precious intimate shot of Mr. Mercury in his full, incredible power,” said Brian May.
Roger Taylor added: “Having fun. We were young!”
The film captures a pivotal moment in the group’s history when Queen returned for the fourth time to the 18,000-capacity Forum in Montreal for two shows on November 24 and 25, 1981. They became a huge worldwide sensation, fueled by the release of The game and single “Under Pressure”. It follows a hugely successful re-release of the 1984 concert film Talking Heads this year Stop making sense from A24, which screened in Imax theaters. AMC Entertainment has Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film and emerging Renaissance: A Beyoncé Movie.
