
Michele Dockerybest known for her role in the hit BBC series Downton Abbeysigned on to star in BBC drama This cityfrom Peaky Blinders Creator Stefano Cavaliere. Paul Whittington (The crown) is directing. The play is a six-part epic drama described as a high-octane thriller and Knight’s most personal drama yet.
Dockery joins previously announced cast members Nicholas Pinnock (Life), David Dawson (My cop), Levi Brown (Loss and return), Giordano Bolger (The King Woman), Ben Rosa (The Innocents), And Eve Austin (You), as well as Geraldine James (Anne with an E), Peter McDonald (The Batman), Freia Parks (The school of good and evil), Shyvonne Ahmmad (Annika), John Heffernan (Dracula), Stefan Asante-Boateng (Coronation Street), Seainin Brennan (The fall), George Sommer (Sex education), And Brandan Gibson (Peaky Blinders).
The synopsis reads:
“The series tells the story of an extended family and four young people who are drawn to the world of ska and two-tone music, which exploded from the bases of Coventry and Birmingham in the late 70s and early 80s, uniting black, white, and young Asians. The opening is scheduled for 1981 at a time of great social tensions and unrest. Against this backdrop, it tells the story of a group of young people struggling to choose their own path in life, and everyone needs the second chance that music offers.
It looks excellent. I love all the talent involved and have loved many of the projects Dockery has been doing since the beginning Downtonlike it Defend Jacob And The Gentlemen. I think this is going to be a solid series and I can’t wait to try it out. This city started production in Birmingham. We will keep you updated on when it will be announced.
