Here is a new piece of concept art with another alternative design by Christian Bale‘s Gorr The God Butcher’s Thor: Love and thunder. I believe this art comes from the Marvel Studios artist Andy Park. The character design looks more like something you would see from Star Wars than Marvel.
The images were shared on Instagram and came with the following note:
Another of the first concerts for Gorr played by #christianbale in Thor: Love and Thunder, a film directed by #taikawaititi. (And those concepts under @andyparkart guide). This was accomplished not long after Bale was cast in the role. So I aimed for a fusion between the features of the comics (here the tentacles in the back of the head) and the features of the actor (the face). Most of the attempts we have made by bringing our nostrils closer to the comic book character have all too often ended with the same comment: “It’s Voldemort!” And the same thing for the really tiny panties from comics: we chose to get rid of them because the result was weird or creepy … Here I kept a general value of white on the body and to avoid a simple naked guy I added an armor bust like some Greek, imitating anatomy with muscles. Always with light values. So the black parts referred to the black shapes and patterns surrounding the character in the comics.
I found Christian Bald’s performance truly impressive! What do you think?
In an interview with D23 Magazine, Chris Hemsworth spoke about Gorr, saying: “[Gorr is] he’s not just a villain … there’s a real complexity to him. It is not black and white what he is doing. He has a truthful motivation, which I think makes the most interesting type of villain, “Hemsworth said.” You may disagree with how he’s doing, but you understand why he’s flipped over the edge and why he’s fallen like this. pathway. It’s really a challenge for Thor, because Gorr’s series of questions contains some truth, but he can’t let Gorr destroy the universe in the process. This, I think, makes this a broader dynamic and not as predictable as the direct scenario of good instinct versus bad that we saw earlier. “
Check out the art below and tell us what you think about the design!
