It’s alive! Guillermo del ToroA long -awaited monstrous film Frankenstein It is finally about to raise from the dead. After years of anticipation, Netflix has triggered a chilling complete trailer that gives us a deeper look at the Gothic vision of Del Toro of this iconic story.
Del Toro, the Oscar’s winning director behind Pan’s Labyrinth, The shape of the waterAND HellboyBoth wrote and directed this reimagination of the Mary Shelley classic, and it was his dream project, and it seems that he made something special.
Driving the cast is Oscar Isaac Like Victor Frankenstein, “a brilliant but selfish scientist who gives life to a creature in a monstrous experiment that eventually leads to the ruin of both the creator and his tragic creation”.
The role of the creature is played by Jacob ElordiAnd the impressive ensemble also includes My Goth, Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, Cristiano Convery, Charles DanceAND Christoph Waltz.
The trailer does not disappoint as it shows the splendid cinematography, the disturbing score, the elaborate costumes and a disturbing Monter Desgin that makes Elordi’s creature seem really disturbing. Del Toro’s beauty and horror mixture is in all this movie.
Frankenstein He has already done the festival rounds, including a premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival at the beginning of this month. The reactions were strong, but not everyone liked it.
Right now, it is seated 80% on Tomatoes Rotten. It is decidedly solid, but perhaps not as high as many would expect from the combination of timeless history of Del Toro and Shelley. Some critics call him a masterpiece, others less, even if many other reviews are yet to come.
Whether the audience discovers it in cinemas or on Netflix, the great question is like the meticulous and atmospheric style of Del Toro will translate into the vision home. His films are designed to be completely lived, not halfway through the background, and Frankenstein seems to be asking for that type of attention.
So far, the trailer prepares the ground for a large, tragic and disturbing reinterpretation of one of the most lasting monsters of literature. Now we just wait to see if Del Toro’s vision delivery when the creature officially comes to life.
The film will be released in cinemas on October 17 before hitting Netflix on November 7th.
