Jason Momoa is officially returning to the DC Cinematic Universe, but this time he’ll be taking on the role of Lobo. It was also revealed that Lobo will make his debut in Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow.
Momoa confirmed the news on Instagram by sharing a past quote from an interview with Fandango during the press tour of Aquaman 2.
“So Lobo was… I collect comics, and I don’t do much anymore, but it was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role.
“I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play it, it’s a damn yes. I didn’t get that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.
This came with the caption: “They called.” Variety is the outlet reporting that he will appear in the Supergirl movie.
We’ve been hearing for years that Momoa will play Lobo in James Gun’s DCU. Now it has just been made official.
Last year it was reported: “It’s true: Jason Momoa is Lobo. Done. Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo, and it will most likely be officially announced…”
Momoa is a perfect actor to play Lobo, a ruthless and unrepentant intergalactic bounty hunter known for his extreme violence, dark humor and larger-than-life personality.
The character was created by Roger Slifer AND Keith Giffen and his debut in Omega Men #3 in 1983 as a satirical response to the hyper-masculine, gritty characters popular in the ’90s.
A Czarnian with superhuman strength, endurance, and regenerative abilities, Lobo is virtually unstoppable and is often hired to hunt down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals.
Despite his brutal methods and morally questionable antics, he operates by a personal code of honor: he always keeps his word.
Are you excited for Momoa to take on the role of Lobo and star alongside him? Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Eva Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll and Matthias Scoenaerts as the film’s villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills.
