According to People, 78-year-old actor Robert Englund was awarded his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy Thompson alongside Englund in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors (1987), shared her memories of Englund and the iconic horror movie character Freddy Krueger: “They spent months preparing the special effects makeup he would wear. They also spent weeks preparing the costume that would create that incredible Freddy Krueger look we all know. And Robert on it.” “When I look at that five-pointed star with his name on it, I think of the five fingers on that greasy, dirty glove he wears on his right hand.”
The actress also recalled the first time she heard Freddie’s voice, noting: “It was Gravelli’s voice. He sneered. It had spit in it. It was incredible. It gave me goosebumps. The moment Robert spoke in Freddie’s voice, he combined that crazy taunt into a perfect embodiment of the worst character imaginable.” Englund also took the opportunity to speak and thanked his fans and friends for their support throughout his career, which has included roles in more than 100 films.
Previously, Naomi Watts received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
