In a recent interview with Bustle, James Franco’s brother Dave Franco opened up about how his older brother’s popularity has affected his career.
James Franco stated that “nobody would hire me just because I’m James Franco’s little brother.” But he admitted that having a movie star brother helped launch his acting career: “If I was terrible I would disappear very quickly. At this point I think he just likes to see me try new things and improve myself.”
Dave Franco’s first notable work was his role in the 10th season of the drama series 7th Heaven, which aired on The WB in 2006. A year later, he made his film debut with a small role in Greg Mottola’s cult comedy Superbad. His star rose in the early 2010s with supporting roles in Fright Night, Geek 2 and Now You See Me. His most recent works include “I’m Sorry For You”, “Together” and “Love Bleeds”.
In 2019, James Franco’s career stalled after two teachers from his acting school filed a lawsuit, alleging that he “engaged in inappropriate and sexually explicit behavior towards female students, sexualizing his power as a teacher and employer by promising them roles in his projects.” The case was settled in 2021 for more than $2 million.
