When the actor turned 50, he spoke about his “pains, mistakes and mistakes.” Asked by the publication if he would change anything in the past half-century, David said: “It’s a very difficult question – a matter of regret or something like that. I would either change everything or I would change nothing. You either fully accept your path and realize that even pain, missteps and mistakes are part of the journey, and in it all there is truth and growth and wisdom and deeper empathy and connection. It’s like a house of cards: The moment you try to change something, you have to change everything.”
He added that if he had to change anything, he would change “everything” and “just make my life happy and mindless”, but that would also mean he was “not an artist anymore” and that would “suck”. David then looked back on the next 50 years of his life and said there were people he wanted to “love, care for and protect”. The interview was released after Lily’s new album stunned fans; the album details the collapse of Lily’s marriage to her cheating ex-husband David.
