Last month it was announced that Deadpool and Wolverine would star Ryan Reynolds AND Hugh Jackmann they will reunite with the director Shawn Levy for a new film
Reynolds previously revealed: “I’m spending the year writing. I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] doing something like that isn’t Marvel.”
Now we have details to share about what the film will look like, as Reynolds and Jackman will play the aging members of the Boy Band who reunite after fame as middle-aged men.
Reynolds told the Hollywood Reporter: “A lot of boy band members – and there are a lot of them – had managers who left them high and dry.
“They have experienced levels of fame that would be very difficult for anyone to achieve, let alone a teenager, when you are cultivating your self-esteem in front of an audience of screaming people.
“It creates a kind of arrested cultural development. They are forever associated with that time period in their lives. These would be people between 40 and 50 years old who are trying to get their lives back. I think there’s something beautiful about that.”
Jesse Andrews wrote the first draft of the screenplay, with Reynolds working on a second draft. The actor also said that the film will have a “modest budget” this time, and that he and Levy are open to “creative ways” to make the film “at an absolutely affordable price.”
