Disney Suspends Neil Gaiman’s Film Adaptation of THE GRAVEYARD BOOK Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Disney has developed a film adaptation of Famous peoplethe novel of The Cemetery Bookwith the director for a couple of years Marco Forster (A Man Called Otto, Christopher Robin) AND Finding Neverland screenwriter David Magee.

This is a project I’ve been looking forward to, because it’s one of those books I read with my kids when they were younger. But, according to IndieWire, Disney has put the film project on hold following allegations of sexual assault against the author.

The report goes on to note that The Graveyard Book project has not been shelved entirely. The plan is to return to development at some point, but it will remain on hold for now. Gaiman had no involvement with the project, other than writing the source material.

The book tells the story of Nobody “Bod” Owen, a young boy who is raised by the ghosts and supernatural beings of a cemetery, including the cemetery caretaker, Silas, after his family is murdered.

As for the accusations made against Gaiman, he has denied them.
