Sigourney Weaver he kicked ass in both Ridley Scott’S Alien AND 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969-1971, 1969-1972, 1969-1973, 1969-1974, 1969-1975, 1969-1976, 1969-1977, 1969-1979 , 19’S AliensEllen Ripley was such a badass character, and Cameron took that badassness to a new level in Aliens.
When Weaver signed up to return for AliensShe wasn’t aware of all the weapons Cameron was planning to use. She’s not a fan of guns and that was something that initially made her uncomfortable.
Speaking about Cameron, Weaver said: “He was so open to any thoughts I might have, and I just felt his instincts were incredible. The only thing, obviously, that I wasn’t thrilled about was all those guns.
“I read very quickly because I was trying to immerse myself in the story and I had missed a lot of the stage directions, which had a lot of weapons in them.”
She went on to recall how Cameron showed up on set one day with an arsenal of guns. She explained, “I said, ‘What are these for?’ and he said, ‘Well, what do you mean?’
“I said, ‘Well, I’m pro-gun control and I’m not really going to pick up a gun and do anything with it.’ He said, ‘Well, you haven’t read the script.’ I said, ‘Yeah, but I haven’t read all those paragraphs about guns.'”
So, Cameron continued to convince her why guns needed to be in the film. She said Cameron took her “out into the back field and had me shoot a couple hundred rounds of this machine gun.”
Weaver admitted that the experience was “unfortunately very challenging.” He then recalls Cameron saying, “I want you to see what happens to her,” referring to Ripley’s transformation after she starts using guns.
Weaver said: “I think, obviously, she has to defend herself, but I also understand why he wanted to use the gun. It wasn’t my first choice.”
Eventually, he agreed to take part in the film with weapons and gave one of his most epic performances ever.
If you saw Aliensyou know it would have been really difficult to make that movie without the guns, since it was about the Colonial Marines military unit.
