Alan Ritchson (Reacher) AND Kevin James (Adults) will star together in a new action comedy titled Game date.
The film follows “a down-on-his-luck man, Brian (James), who has just been fired from his job and unexpectedly becomes a stay-at-home dad to his 10-year-old son. On his first day, he accepts an invitation to play from Jeff (Ritchson), another stay-at-home dad, who turns out to be an unexpected loose cannon. The two fathers and their sons spend the day on the run, facing a deadly conspiracy.
It looks like this will be a fun movie for Ritchson and James to team up on. The film is directed by Luca Greenfield (The girl next door) from a screenplay written by Neil Goldmann (Shrinking).
The director shared: “Midnight rush has always been one of my favorite films and this is a great opportunity to achieve that magic. Neil has written an action comedy that focuses on real, relatable characters and their relationships, and it’s the kind of film we can all look forward to seeing again. And this duo of Alan and Kevin will capture that magic. This film came together so perfectly because of Mark, Jeffrey and Dan, and that’s a beautiful and rare thing these days.”
Producer Marco Fasano said in a statement: “I couldn’t be more excited to see such an incredible team come together for Playdate. Alan and Kevin are an amazing couple and their chemistry in such a short time is something you can only hope for. Luke has proven time and time again that he delivers high-concept comedy that is grounded yet relatable. I can’t remember the last time we had a comedy this good and funny, and I know Playdate will deliver.
