It has been confirmed James Gunn has officially launched House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as Supergirl in the new DC Cinematic Universe that she is building with the co-CEO of DC Studios Pietro Safran.
Alcock has been in the running for quite some time and after reviewing the auditions conducted, she is the one Gunn wanted to play the heroine.
I thought she would be the only one in the cast because she is the best known of the other actresses nominated for the role she included Emilia Jones AND Meg Donnelly.
Deadline explains that Supergirl will appear in a DC project before her big solo movie, Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow. That other project could very well be Superman: Legacybut this is not confirmed.
Gunn said of the casting on social media: “Milly is a fantastically talented young actress and I am incredibly excited that she is part of the DCU. Yes, I noticed her for the first time in House of the Dragon, but I was blown away by his various auditions and tryouts for Supergirl. She embodies Kara as imagined by Tom King and Ana Nogueira.
Well, I guess we’ll have to wait and see it when it’s in action. Alcock wouldn’t be my first choice, but Gunn has always cast his films correctly, and I trust his casting, so it will be good to see what has he planned for her!
What do you think of Alcock’s casting as Supergirl?
