Disney Parks released a wonderful video about it Lanny Smoothwho is the first Disney Imagineer to be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
The video offers insight into his incredible career and some of the inventions and projects he has worked on over the years. The last part of the video is where things get crazy interesting when Larry introduces a new technology which is a HoloTile floor, an omnidirectional “treadmill” that can support multiple people at once. This is the kind of technology that could lead to a true Star Trek-style holodeck experience. This is really strong!

Lanny is the first Disney Imagineer to receive this prestigious award and only the second individual from the Walt Disney Company to be inducted: the first was Walt Disney, honored posthumously for the multiplane camera.
