Top Gun 3 is in development! After Top Gun: nonconformist was such a huge success for Paramount Pictures, that the studio and creative team hope to capture that money-making magic again.
Tom Cruise is set to return to the franchise and, according to the report, will be joined by Maverick’s Miles Teller and Glen Powell, as well as producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison.
The director of Top Gun: Maverick Joseph Kosinski he will also return to direct, and Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger is currently writing the screenplay. So, this sequel is 100% moving forward.
I want to be excited about this because I loved Top Gun: Maverick so much, but at the same time I wish they would have left the franchise alone after Maverick because it was such a great movie! Who knows if they will really be able to capture lightning in a bottle again.
Speaking previously about the possibility of a third Top Gun film, Kosinski said: “Is there another story that’s compelling enough that we need to go back? I feel like at the end of the movie, Maverick has some gas in the tank. He’s not settling down.”
Hopefully, they’ve managed to come up with another great story to tell with these characters and that, as they develop the film, they’ll be able to reach the bar of excellence set by Top Gun: Maverick.
It’s said like this Top Gun 3 could be Cruise’s next project after he finishes filming Mission: Impossible 8.
