New Zealand-based Weta Workshop has released a fantastic behind-the-scenes video showcasing the VFX work they created for the director Gareth Edwards’science fiction epic The creator. This was a great movie, but it wasn’t a huge success at the box office.
Regardless, the work Weta Workshop did on the film is incredible. Remember, this is the same effects company behind all the Lord of the Rings films. They designed and created virtually every futuristic costume, weapon, military equipment and other special prop for the film.
The video came with the following note: “Wētā Workshop designed and produced the main character and hero military costumes and special props for The Creator. We approached the design and production knowing that the film crew needed to be lightweight, leading to a modular design philosophy where almost everything was multipurpose. The result was specially crafted pieces that could be mixed and matched to create a series of special costumes.
In the film, “In the midst of a future sci-fi war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua, a hardened former Special Forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of an advanced artificial intelligence that has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end war and humanity itself.
The Creator is already available on 4K Blu-ray.
