Lionsgate has officially released the first trailer for The Maid, which premiered on X. The film is directed and written by Paul Feig (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Ghostbusters, The Office), and stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
The Handmaiden is adapted from Frieda McFadden’s novel of the same name, published in 2022. In the story, Millie (Sweeney) gets a job as a maid in the wealthy Winchester family. After a brief stay in prison, Millie works hard at the family home to adjust and bond with the couple. As she gets to know the Winchesters better, she discovers the hidden secrets behind the family’s perfect appearance and begins to uncover the dark secrets behind their deaths.
“I couldn’t tear myself away from The Handmaiden,” Sweeney said of how excited she was to work on the film adaptation of McFadden’s novel and how much of a fan she was. I finished all three books in a week. There are flawed and terrible characters.” Sweeney expressed his excitement about working on the film adaptation, having read the work many times.
Previously, Sydney Sweeney commented on whether season 3 of Euphoria would be the last season.
