Google Stadia is officially dead. He has moved on to greener pastures. I personally loved the video game streaming service and saw great potential. Had relatively few problems with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, which is huge considering how broken the game was on other platforms. He made me play Destiny 2 with friends without having to download the game I never play alone to my hard drive and rack up a big chunk. Sadly it was doomed from the start as Google is obsessed with self-sabotaging and killing any product/service that consumers actually like. Stadiums goodbye.

Well, if you ended up buying a Stadia Controller, there’s some good news: you don’t have to throw it away. As a final act of goodwill, Google has released a tool that will turn your Stadia Controller into a standard Bluetooth controller. You can follow the steps from the official website by December 31, 2023 to make it possible. An interesting note is that they make a note to explain that this is a permanent change and “you can’t reset it to use Wi-Fi on Stadia.” I find this note hilarious because it’s worded in a way that implies someone might even be using the controller for Stadia at this point. Silly Google.
Feel free to leave some of your Stadia memories in the comments below and if you’re now using the Stadia Controller via Bluetooth.
