At some point, his oxygen levels dropped. She had to be taken to the hospital and put into an induced coma. “I was septic,” says Tammy. She was about to lose her life.
“I think hitting rock bottom opened my eyes. I have to improve, this is my last chance. I don’t understand why God saved me again,” Tammy admits as she breaks down in tears. “That’s why I didn’t want to do it.”
Tammy now has a windpipe in her throat. Chris Y amanda Come see Tammy when she goes back to rehab. “I told you when you see me again, I won’t be the same person,” Tammy explains. She tells them she wants to get better. “I’m not ready to give up,” says Tammy. She wants to have surgery to lose weight.
Chris is a little hesitant to believe that Tammy means business. This is the second time she has been attached to a ventilator for several days.
Tammy recently lost about 100 pounds, but much of that weight was drug induced, Dr Eric Smith He says. The goal is to get Tammy down to 550 lbs. “It’s doable,” says Tammy. Tammy she points out that she has a “different perspective” after being admitted to the hospital. She really wants to live her life and be healthy.

Every night, when she goes to bed, Tammy has to have her speech tube removed, which prevents her from speaking. At 3:09, a nurse runs into Tammy’s room to ask if she’s okay after turning off the monitors. Tammy isn’t breathing. A blockage in her windpipe has prevented her lungs from getting oxygen.
“Last night, I literally almost died,” Tammy admits. Her oxygen level dropped to 20. She started to pass out. “I couldn’t breathe at all,” says Tammy. “I was going to die”. Luckily, the nurse was able to suction the mucus plug before it was too late. While Tammy tries to lighten the situation, she’s honest about how much she scared her. new episodes of 1000 pounds sisters airs Tuesdays at 9pm on TLC.
