The Queen would be disappointed.
Buckingham Palace has issued an official invitation for Charles III’s coronation. And the card is already disassembled into parts.
Designed by heraldry artist and manuscript illustrator Andrew Jamieson, OK! The invitation was hand drawn and copied on a printing press. It will be sent to over 2,000 guests.
The card is painted with wildflowers and printed on recycled cardstock with gold foil accents. Also depicted are the coats of arms of Charles III and Camilla Parker-Bowles. And it is precisely about the latter that questions arise.
Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. By order of the King, the Earl Marshall is ordered to be invited… to attend the Church of Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023,” the text on the card reads.
According to observers, the wife of Charles III was first called “Queen Camilla” here. And then they saw a betrayal of the memory of Elizabeth II, because she did not like her daughter-in-law and wanted her to be called queen consort in the future, and not just queen. After all, this title belonged to Elizabeth herself for 70 years.
