French clubs participating in various European cups know their fate. On Monday, November 7th, the Champions League and Europa League play-off draws were held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Neither tricolor club was worried about the Europa League Conference as OGC Nice qualified directly for the qualifying stage. Regarding the Champions League, PSG took over Bayern Munich, a remake of the C1 final in 2020. In the Europa League, FC Nantes will have a hard time against Juventus Turin. Stade Rennais will face Chakhtior Donetsk, while AS Monaco will face Bayer Leverkusen.
In a video posted on Youtube Pierrot LeFoot On Monday, November 7th, Pierre Ménès reacted to these various sweepstakes. The sports adviser then took the opportunity to denounce UEFA’s regulations regarding the running of the competition: “That’s it, the draw was made for the European Cups. Finally a draw… Because before this draw, the highest probability was PSG’s defeat to Bayern and, miraculously, PSG’s defeat to Bayern!“The probability of PSG facing Bayern Munich before the draw was around 19%.”This means that there is no draw overall”, plague of old star Channel Football Club. “You can’t meet the clubs you meet at the pools, since you have three English clubs, three German clubs, all of them… I find this rule completely silly!“The UEFA regulations for the C1 round of 16 really prevent clubs from the same country and group from playing.
As a result, Pierre Ménès wants this regulation point to be changed in the future: “The Champions League round of 16 should be a full draw. Frankly, we can’t face a team we play against in the group stage, but for the rest it should be complete. If there are matches between the British or between the Germans, it’s the rich problem, much worse for them!“
Much heavier than 1/8, remake of 2020 PSG / Bayern final and 2022 Liverpool / Real!
