Hayley Erbert did not undergo further cranioplasty and the surgery was “successfully completed as planned,” according to an Instagram post from husband Derek Hough.
Erbert had a “large portion of her skull” replaced after emergency surgery earlier this month.
The “Dancing with the Stars” judge said this on Instagram. “It is with great relief, gratitude and overwhelming joy that I would like to announce that Hayley’s cranioplasty was successfully completed as planned.
“My sincere thanks go to the exceptional medical team. Her expertise and steady hands were crucial in this process and ensured a smooth and successful process. Especially Dr. May, who not only performed the operation, but was also the one who saved her life two weeks ago.”
“We have been deeply touched by the outpouring of support and prayers from all of you. Your thoughts, prayers and positive energy have been a source of strength and comfort to us during this challenging time. It is truly heartwarming to know how much love and care surrounds us.
Hough also thanked fans for their support.
“This surgery is an important milestone in my wife’s recovery journey, and your support has been critical in getting us here. We are full of hope and optimism for the future and know that she is on her way to full recovery surrounded by such a loving community.”
Erbert, 29, underwent cranioplasty to return her skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury, Hough said.
Hough noted that his wife’s “recovery has been nothing short of a miracle,” adding that while “Hayley is doing well,” she “still has a long way to go.”
Erbert suffered from symptoms of a cranial hematoma following her “Symphony of Dance” tour on December 6. The ruptured blood vessel required emergency surgery on December 7th.
