We see the artist with his face uncovered, wearing a t-shirt with his picture on it, giving the bottle to the caracal pup that he is lovingly holding in his lap. These images gave the animal protection associations goosebumps as the caracal is a protected cat species because it is threatened. According to the Instagram story, Gims was supposed to be in Casablanca.
The Amnévile zoo later released this valuable information through its official website, namely the caracal “It loses more of its habitat every year. (…) It is one of the species that fell victim to trophy hunting in Africa, but there are also breeders who eliminate it, as this cat sometimes attacks domestic animals.“On Twitter, Anne-Claire Chauvancy of Action Protection Animale responded to Gims: “Congratulations, he pointed sarcastically. The place of wild animals is neither behind bars nor in human laps. To appear like this with such a bad reputation is sending a dangerous message…“.
The League of Animals showed much less composure: “This little one has not been weaned and is not a pet! Put your glasses and brain back in place and return this little guy to his natural habitat.“As for the Monophonic Animal, the association sadly tweeted: “A kitten far from its mother… Animals, you are a partner in wild animal smuggling. Shame on you“.
Faced with these accusations, Gims remains silent and did not disclose the context in which this controversial video, which had more than 4.5 million views in three days, was filmed. “HEn want an explanation!!!“, tweeted a very upset Internet user who also expects Gims to set a better example for animal welfare.
