Liz Kerin’s novel Night’s Edge is working at Freeform with Jac Schaeffer of Keto Shimizu & WandaVision

EXCLUSIVE: Liz Kerin’s female vampire novel nocturnal edge, which will hit shelves June 20 via Tor Nightfire/Macmillan, is already in early development at Freeform and 20e TV. The author will co-write with Keto Shimizu and for television WandaVision Creator Jac Schaeffer Executive Producer.

Kerin and Shimizu are also going to make an EP directed by Leslye Headland and also an EP.

The edge of the night Is a mother-daughter story set against the backdrop of a vampire pandemic.

The logline of the novel: Having a mother like Izzy meant that Mia had to grow up fast. No extracurricular activities, no inviting friends and definitely no dates. The most important rule: Don’t tell anyone about Izzy’s hunger – the kind that can only smell blood. But Mia is now in her twenties and yearns for a life of her own. One where she doesn’t have to worry about someone finding out her terrible secret or breathing down her neck. When Mia meets the rebellious musician Jade, she dares to hope she has found a way to leave her homeland – and her mother – behind. This may be Mia’s only chance to get out alive.

Schaeffer came to the project through her overall deal with Marvel and 20th, which has worked on projects for Disney’s own brands. She currently leads the Disney+/Marvel space WandaVision series spin-off, Agatha: House of Harkness, as well as various other projects for 20 producede. Schaeffer is represented by Verve, Chaplain and Paul Hastings.

Headland is a co-creator of russian doll, which just started its second season. Headland is also Freeform’s EP single drunk woman in which she also directs several episodes. She is repped by UTA, Sugar23 and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light.

Author, playwright and screenwriter Kerin graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and previously wrote historical drama. the broken world for producer and director Timur Bekmambetov. She is represented by Verve and attorney Adam Cooper.

Shimizu was a big part of Greg Berlanti’s DC Verse which had an EP on it dc’s legends of tomorrow, to a producer arrow, with writing credits on The Flash. She is represented by agents Brant Rose & Toochis Morin Rose at the Brant Rose Agency and manager Anne Damato at Damato Entertainment.
