When Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Released in cinemas, fans were able to see Scarlet Witch become a real villain and, apparently, this evil narrative arc was a great surprise for Elisabetta Olsen.
During a panel at La Comic with (through Popverse), Olsen shared that he had no idea of being the big bad of the film until he was a few weeks after climbing the set.
“I thought I was part of a choral cast and I thought I was one of the good guys. And then three weeks before I was sent to London, they told me: ‘You are our main bad guy!’
“And I had no idea. And when I finished shooting Wandavision, I thought, ‘Eh, it would have been useful to know, so I could have brought the thread a little.”
In Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessWanda Maximoff is corrupt by Darkhold and begins to wander for the multiverse in search of alternative versions of his children, Billy and Tommy.
The dark turning point took some fans by surprise, especially after the emotional journey he crossed Wandavision. For Olsen, it was equally shocking.
“But I think the story told itself, and I have been able to manipulate things in Doctor Strange to tell, hopefully, a different story for her.”
In an interview that preceded the release of the film, Olsen spoke even more than the intense transition between packaging and packaging Wandavision and dive directly into the sequel to Doctor Strange.
“We literally finished Wandavision on a Wednesday and I flew to England on Friday to make this film. I had just experienced Wandavision a lot, but no one else on Doctor Strange had done so.
“It was a matter of continuing as much as possible what we had done and what we had learned in this film.”
It was not easy to keep the emotional continuity of Scarlet Witch intact, above all because the Creative Team of Doctor Strange was not entirely updated on his narrative arc on Disney+. Olsen explained that there are some conversations so necessary between Wandavision Creator Jac Schaeffer AND Multiverse of madness writer Michele Waldron He helped unite the points.
“We had no changes to share with anyone because we had just finished shooting days earlier. So there are many overlaps and a lot of influence from Wandavision’s experiences that [lead] in Dr. Strange.
While Scarlet Witch has no longer been seen in the MCU since the end of the Multiverse of madnessFans have not stopped hoping for his return. But it is likely that we have not yet seen Wanda Maximoff’s last time.
