Hit BBC comedy ghosts will conclude after the upcoming fifth season, bringing to an end one of the BBC’s most successful family comedies of the last generation.
Taking to social media, the Monumental Television team behind the show said: “After five incredible years of haunting the halls of Button House, we’ve decided the time has come to release our beloved sitcom. ghost rRest in peace.”

We follow a young couple who buy an old mansion that they don’t know is full of ghosts, each with a story to tell. ghosts was a huge hit, regularly attracting 4 to 5 million viewers a week. The show stars writers and creators Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond alongside Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.
In the fifth and final season, Alison (Ritchie) and Mike (Smith-Bynoe) begin to explore other ways to make ends meet and think of a new chapter that will have a huge impact on life and life that the death of the Ghosts can have.
The show was adapted into a hit American comedy on CBS, which has run for two seasons so far. It is the first to appear to have closed after the BBC announced it was cutting 1,000 hours of shows a year in a battle for hundreds of millions of pounds in savings.
