Refused the crown: Charles III’s public gesture confused the common people

No one dared to challenge the king.

King Charles III abdicated the throne. In public, the British monarch performed an act that left people confused.

Fortunately, this is not about a real crown. The late Elizabeth II’s son arrived in Germany for an official visit. Here he met the head of the German state and his wife and at the same time welcomed the locals who had gathered at the Brandenburg Gate.

Whether in jest or in earnest, some of those who came brought paper crowns from a well-known brand of a fast food restaurant chain. People began to hand over their gifts to His Majesty. All within the bounds of decency: polite and unobtrusive. But Karl was not in the mood for such comical presents.

Trying to be delicate, he waved his arms, demonstrating a refusal to wear paper jewelry, writes The Sun. All that was left for the overcrowded spectators was to stand there with a confused look and then take their “offerings” home.
