Cry star Melissa Barrara he is destined to act Black Tidesa new ocean-set horror thriller from the action-horror director Renny Harlin. She joins John Travolta, Álvaro Mel (A perfect story) and Travolta’s daughter Ella Bleu Travolta for a survival story that will make people think twice about returning to the water.
The film follows Travolta’s character, Bill Pierce, as he travels to Europe to reconnect with his daughter Rebecca (Barrera) and his son Sebastian (Dylan Torrell).
What begins as an emotional reunion quickly turns into chaos when their boat is attacked by a pod of bloodthirsty killer whales.
Black Tides it is written by Chris Sparling (Greenland) AND Angelo Agudo (Apocalypse Z) and production is already underway in Gran Canaria, Spain.
Director Harlin is thrilled to have Barrera on board, stating, “Melissa brings both fire and vulnerability to a role that demands everything – emotionally, physically and cinematically. She and John are movie magic together, and they elevate every beat of this story.”
Producer Adrian Guerra also praised the production’s ambition, noting, “Shooting at sea is one of the most difficult things you can do on film, but the footage we’re getting is stunning. The cast has come together in a rare and powerful way, and Renny’s directorial skills are on full display, balancing raw spectacle with real human emotion.”
Barrera has become something of a mainstay of modern horror. Beyond Cry AND Scream VIhe recently starred in the vampire thriller Abigail and monster-filled dark comedy Your monster.
For Harlin, Black Tides marks a return to familiar territory as he directed the cult classic Deep blue sea in 1999, a film that has since become a fan favorite among shark movie enthusiasts.
Harlin also recently worked on the new one The Foreigners trilogy, which is not doing well. There’s a movie in that trilogy that’s coming out.
