Get ready to do the Truffle Shuffle, as LEGO brings fans back to Astoria The Goonies Pirate ship set. Inspired by Richard DonnerThe beloved 1985 adventure film, produced by Steven Spielbergbrings with him this epic LEGO Ideas creation The Goonies‘, the legendary treasure hunt comes to life as only LEGO can.
With a total of 2,912 pieces, this enormous construction recreates Inferno, the infamous pirate ship belonging to One-Eyed Willy, and is full of secrets, traps and nostalgic reminders.
Inside the ship, builders will discover the Brothers’ hideout, caves and One-Eyed Willy’s treasure room, all packed with clever gameplay features. Activate a boulder trap with the Copper Bone Skeletal Key or discover hidden surprises in the Skeletal Organ. There’s also a nod to the infamous deleted octopus scene.
To celebrate the revelation, Ke Huy Quanwho played Data, returned to show off the set in a fun announcement video, complete with some of his old movie gadgets. Seeing him light up as he revisits his Goonies memories is pure joy. Quan shared:
“Revisiting Data after all these years, but this time in LEGO format, has been a truly joyful experience. The Goonies was all about heart, adventure, and friendship, and this set captures that spirit in fantastic detail.
“From the booby traps to the treasure room, it’s like going back into the tunnels with the gang – only now I get to share that magic with a whole new generation of fans.”
Of course, the entire Goonies crew is with us. Set includes Mikey minifigures (Sean Astin), Mouth (Corey Feldman), piece (Jeff Cohen), Brandon (Josh Brolin), Stef (Martha Plimpton), Andy (Kerri Green), Mother Brothers (Anna Ramsey), Francis (Joe Pantoliano), Jake (Roberto Davi), the skeleton of One-Eyed Willy and Sloth (John Matuszak).
The idea for this set came from Greece-based 3D artist Vaggelis Ntezes (known in the LEGO Ideas community as Delusion Brick), who submitted the project as part of the LEGO Ideas program, where fan creations can become official sets.
Ntezes explained: “In designing this set, I revisited my childhood memories: growing up in the 80s, playing with LEGO Pirates sets and watching The Goonies.
“Combining nostalgia, fantasy and creativity, I wanted to create something that offered both playability and expository value. The final design blends the legendary Hell with the cave system and booby traps, capturing the spirit of adventure that made the film so unforgettable. I’m excited to see it come to life and hope it brings joy to fans new and old.”
For longtime fans, this set is the perfect tribute to one of the greatest ’80s adventure films ever made.
The Goonies The LEGO set will be available to LEGO Insiders Early Access on November 1, with a wide release on November 4, priced at $329.99.
