In the world of science fiction cinema it is common to find films that present us with distant futures and advanced technologies that seem impossible to reach. However, on some occasions, these films can accurately anticipate some technological advances that years later become a reality. Here are some sci-fi movies that came true.
“Minority Report” (2002)
Steven Spielberg, presents a future where police use “precognition” technology to predict crimes before they happen. While the idea of predicting the future sounds like science fiction, there are now AI systems that can predict crime and help law enforcement prevent it.
“2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968)
This movie by Stanley Kubrick shows us a space station where astronauts interact with a computer called the HAL 9000, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence.
While this seemed far away at the time of the film’s release, we currently have virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa to help us with day-to-day tasks.
