Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl will simulcast on Discovery Channel, TBS, HBO Max and Discovery+ on WBD Synergy Move

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros. Discovery intends to take Puppy Bowl to another level as a live television event by broadcasting it from both sides of the combined company via linear networks and streaming platforms.

In its first post-merger, Puppy Bowl will run on its home network Animal Planet, where it has been a fixture for 19 years, as well as on TBS, TNets unscripted brand, Discovery Channel and soon Discovery+ and HBO Max combination.

Last year, Puppy Bowl XVIII streamed alongside the Animal Planet run on Discovery+; The event space was greatly expanded this year with the addition of networks, TBS and Discovery, as well as a longer reach streamer, HBO Max.

“The little ones are taking over and the epic battle between Ruff and Fluff is now too big for one network,” reads the promo for the simulcast. (You can see it above.)

The stunt follows major marketing campaigns across the WBD portfolio for last year’s Shark Week on the Discovery Channel and home of the dragon on HBO/HBO max.

The 19th annual Call for Adoption event will feature Bleacher Report host Taylor Rooks, sports commentator Steve Levy, Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson (Married to real estate), Faruq Tauheed (fight battles), Zak Bagans (ghost adventures), Alex Guarnaschelli (Turn off the supermarket) along with talent from Discovery Channel street bandits Franchise, the upcoming movie from New Line Cinema Shazam! wrath of the gods, as well as sports personalities from Warner Bros. Discovery Sports.

Puppy Bowl XIX will feature 122 puppies, 67 shelters and rescues in 34 states — and for the first time, a Native American animal organization and puppy player from Dominica, West Indies.

A pregame show begins at 1pm ET / 10am PT with inside information on the Puppy Bowl version, along with exclusive interviews with coaches and players. Puppy Bowl referee Dan Schachner returns for his 12th year, while sportscasters Steve Levy and Taylor Rooks return to provide play-by-play commentary.
