Actor Adam Sandler announced that filming has started on the comedy sequel Grown Ups 3. Streaming service Netflix is producing the new movie, though the release date remains unknown. Creators have not yet disclosed any details about the plot.

Box office success and audience ratings
The original Grown Ups comedy debuted in 2010. Critics panned the film, with only 10 percent of reviewers recommending it on Rotten Tomatoes, but 62 percent of audience members rated it positively. A second installment arrived in 2013 to even worse critical reception.
Despite negative reviews, both films became global hits. The two movies earned more than $500 million at the worldwide box office against a total combined budget of $160 million.
