EXCLUSIVE: Writer-producer Jason Ning is expanding his relationship with Sony Pictures Television, closing an overall deal with the studio.
Ning is currently co-executive producer at Silk: Spider Society Starring Angela Kang, the first in a series of live-action series produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video.
He is also currently working on a TV series adaptation of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and four other novels in Wang Dulu’s Crane Iron Pentalogy, published between 1938 and 1944, detailing the struggles of four generations of Youxia, a type of ancient Chinese folk hero.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was famously adapted by Ang Lee into his Oscar-winning film, which incorporated elements from other books in the Crane series. The film was produced and distributed by Sony, making the title a profitable IP in the studio’s library.
Earlier Game Executive producer Ning recently worked on two high-profile upcoming series, Peacock’s Mrs. Davids by Damon Lindelof and that of Netflix brother’s sun by Brad Falchuk. He also acted as supervising producer The wide.
Ning is repped by UTA, Gotham Group and Yorn Levine.
