An American who moved to the UK revealed in a video some things she discovered in her new home that she had never seen before.
And the list is eye-opening for Americans and Brits.
The revelations come from 31-year-old Kalyn Franke, who runs GirlGoneLondon.com, a resource about traveling or moving to the UK. She moved from the Florida suburbs to the UK 11 years ago and is now a full-time producer of blogs, videos and online courses about life in the country.
Her video, which she posted on YouTube with the caption, “I NEVER saw these things before I moved from the US to the UK!”, has been viewed almost 50,000 times. Here we reveal the full list, from heated towel rails to kettles and Yorkshire puddings.
Heated towel rail

Kalyn describes heated towel rails in the video as “one of the most ingenious inventions” and tells MailOnline Travel it was the item on her bucket list that surprised her the most when she moved to the UK.
“I had never seen one before and had no idea it contained a heating element, so I was extremely surprised when I leaned on it and almost burned myself,” she says.
She explains to viewers in the video that they don’t know it’s “where you hang your towels and it’s usually connected to a home’s heating system”, although Brits will (probably) know that freestanding electric versions are also available.
Kalyn says she should definitely install one in her American home if she ever moves back because “it’s so nice to have really warm towels” waiting for you after you shower and “they don’t get all damp and musty.”
mailboxes
Kalyn is not a fan of mailboxes. “There is something intrusive about my mail coming right through my door,” she says
Kalyn reveals that she grew up in suburban Florida – where mailboxes, or “mail slots” as Americans would call them, are completely absent.
She says: “I’ve never seen a mailbox in a door before. They are found in parts of the US, but not in the suburbs of Florida. Everyone has a mailbox at the end of the driveway.”
She tells MailOnline Travel that she’s not really a fan of post boxes and doesn’t fancy them being shipped across the Atlantic.
She says: “I’m definitely glad the British post boxes are happy. There’s something intrusive about my mail coming right through my door when I’m used to going to a remote mailbox.
“Convenient sometimes, yes, but you might as well flip through a stack of flyers and ads they put on the door before you leave for the day. I’m not a fan.”
roundabouts

There are quite a few roundabouts in the US, Kalyn reveals, but she’s only seen one in Florida – “It was in a parking lot, but it didn’t work because we didn’t know what to do with it .”

Yorkshire pudding

She said: “There’s just something so comforting about drenching them in gravy and eating them with a Sunday roast.”
