Victoria Beckham has shared new details about the eating disorder that caused her to lose “all sense of reality” following the Spice Girls’ disbandment in 2000, Page Six writes.

“When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying, and I’ve never talked about it to my family. I’ve never shared it publicly. When you’re constantly told you’re not good enough, it really affects you, and I think that’s something that’s stuck with me my whole life,” she candidly said in the new Netflix docuseries Victoria Beckham.
Victoria also recalls weighing in on national television in 1999, six months after the birth of her first child, Brooklyn Beckham, whom she raised with husband David Beckham: “We laugh about it and joke about it when we’re on TV, but I was very, very young and it hurt.”
“In those days, people thought it was normal to criticize a woman for her weight, and there were a lot of things that weren’t shown on television that can’t be shown now,” David adds.

Victoria explains that she began to “doubt herself and dislike herself” and slowly began to “lose her sense of reality”. Body dysmorphic disorder began to develop when the former singer-impersonator became very critical of herself: “I didn’t like what I saw.” Even though Victoria now has a healthy relationship with food, the one thing she still stays away from is chocolate. Beckham admitted he hasn’t had this treat since the ’90s.
By the way, we have materials about what the disease called dysmorphophobia is and how people live with it.
