Kree villain confirmed in THE MARVELS; Brie Larson talks about the focus of the film

Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for The wonders this week, and it looks like the movie will be a lot more fun than I expected. Can’t wait to see Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) the story arc expands because he’s a fun character.

One thing I wasn’t sure about the trailer is who the main villain of the story is. There are some shots of Zawe Ashtonthe mysterious Kree character from , seen wielding a Cosmi-Rod, which is similar to the one used by Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).

Thanks to a press kit that was sent out, it has been confirmed that the villain in the film is Kree warlord Dar-Benn. The obscure character first debuted in the 90s as part of the Silver Surfer comic series, and was at one point the emperor of the Kree Empire.

Dar-Benn only has a few comic book appearances, and I’m guessing this live-action version of the character will be a whole new character using only the name. The character is seen in the trailer wearing a bracelet similar to Kamala Khan’s.

Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the film, and in an interview with Good Morning America, the actress spoke of the focus of the sequel and her character: “The first was the origin story of who is Now she’s delving into some of the complexities. That there’s so much more to her, that there are parts that aren’t so beautiful about her. That we can see a hero as a person who doesn’t make all the right decisions all the time. “

She went on to talk about how much she’s enjoying this Marvel gig, saying, “I’m so lucky that I can pretend with my job. The fact that I’m an actress came to me when I was a little kid and told my mom. I feel like sitting here on this couch talking about these projects is honoring this inner child within me. I have a very vivid inner world and it’s something I’ve nurtured and it’s very special to me.”

The film follows the events of Mrs. Marvel and features Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) as they unexpectedly switch places every time they use their powers, so they must work together to figure out why. The film also sees the return of the franchise Samuel L.Jackson, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia ShroffAND Mohan Kapur. New cast members include Zawe Ashton AND Seo-joon Park.

Nia DaCosta is directing the film from a script written by Megan McDonnell. The film is also said to “feature many notable characters from the MCU”, with the film being described as an “Avengers mini-movie”.

The wonders will be released in theaters on November 10.
