The film was directed and written by Scott Cooper. Filming is taking place in Springsteen’s hometown of New Jersey, as well as New York and Los Angeles. The project is based on Warren Zanes’ book of the same name, which chronicles the making of the musician’s 1982 album Nebraska.
According to Variety, the collection “marked a turning point in his life that the artist only talked about openly decades after its release.” The album is stated to be a turning point in Springsteen’s musical career and an inspiration to many artists.
