Ron Howard he’s built a career turning real-life stories into unforgettable cinematic experiences, and now he’s gearing up for the next one. The Oscar-winning filmmaker will direct Alone at dawn for Amazon MGM Studios, with Adam Driver AND Anne Hathaway leading the cast.
When Howard began searching for the right actor to carry this story forward, he ultimately turned to Driver, who not only brings with him a history of extraordinary performances, but also his personal connection as a former Marine.
According to sources, Driver has long been interested in taking on a military-centric role, but only if the story was significant enough to be told. Alone at dawn finally gave him this opportunity.
Once Driver joined the project, Howard and the producers began looking for his co-star. The script soon found its way into Hathaway’s hands, and after meeting with the team, she agreed to star alongside Driver in the film.
Howard has proven time and time again that he can create compelling narratives from real events. Movies like Apollo 13 AND A wonderful mind consolidated his reputation, so much so that the latter earned him his first Oscar for directing.
One of his most recent works with Amazon, Thirteen liveswas another critically acclaimed drama, chronicling the rescue of a Thai football team trapped in a cave.
Both Hathaway and Driver bring significant star power and impressive resumes to this project. Hathaway is currently filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 and recently wrapped The Odyssey with Christopher Nolan.
Driver, meanwhile, has a long list of projects. We’ll see him next in Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother and that of James Gray Paper tiger.
Amazon will release the film theatrically as part of its ongoing first-look deal with Howard and Brian GrazerImagine the entertainment. The project is produced by Imagine Entertainment, The Hideaway Entertainment and Thruline Entertainment.
With Howard at the helm and two powerful stars leading the way, Alone at dawn it could end up being a great military drama.
