Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake returns for a second season, and as you’ll see, things are getting even more chaotic. HBO Max released the first trailer for the new season during New York Comic Con, giving fans a peek at what’s to come for the fan-favorite duo after their multiverse-saving debut.
After saving the multiverse in the first season, Fionna and Cake now live as true legends in their world, celebrated heroes who can finally relax and enjoy their fame.
The new season promises tons of wild new adventures for our heroes. There’s an invasion of a princess, monstrous beasts to fight, and even a reunion with an adult Finn.
The chaos doesn’t end there, as the Huntress Princess says (Ashly Burch) joins the group on their mysterious quest, which could put the entire multiverse in danger.
The footage is filled with everything fans love about the world of Adventure Time: ridiculous drum solos, over-the-top battles, banana guards, and a healthy dose of absurd fun.
The biggest tease, though, seems to be Fionna herself struggling to adjust to her newfound hero status. Fame and glory come with challenges, and it looks like season two will delve into what it means for her to find purpose beyond saving the world.
Season two of Fionna & Cake premieres October 23 on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping every Thursday through December 25.
