George R. R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels and co-writer of House of the Dragon, has predicted major plot holes in the series — and it’s all because showrunner Ryan Condal killed off one of the characters.
On Wednesday, the author published a blog post titled “Beware of Butterflies,” in which he sadly discusses the so-called “butterfly effect,” or a situation where small changes can lead to a global catastrophe.
We’re talking about the removal of Maelor Targaryen, Queen Helena’s third son, from the script. “Maelor is a two-year-old in Fire and Blood, but like our butterfly, his impact on the plot is much greater than it seems at first glance. If House of the Dragon makes the changes it’s planning for seasons three and four, there will be bigger, more poisonous butterflies to come,” Martin notes.
Despite the fact that the record was soon deleted, HBO representatives made a statement on the official page in which they stated that they have deep respect and loyalty to the work of George RR Martin, but that changes had to be made for the sake of the format. . However, they believe that the series will not lose its appeal and will be greatly appreciated by both the writer and the audience.
