The creators of the Twilight animated series have put the project into production. This means that soon the famous vampires will appear on the screen in a new incarnation.
According to Variety, a multi-part cartoon based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel “Midnight Sun” will be released by the streaming platform Netflix. The project was announced in April 2023, when it was in the early stages of development. In March 2024, Lionsgate’s vice president Michael Burns confirmed that it was an animated series. Netflix is currently actively working on its creation.
Midnight Sun was released in 2020 and is a retelling of the first Twilight film from Edward Cullen’s perspective. Stephenie Meyer herself will serve as executive producer. The production also includes Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who produced the Twilight films.
Let’s recall that the series consists of five films that were released from 2008 to 2012. They collected more than three billion dollars at the global box office and brought mega popularity to Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
