Cosmetics company L’Occitane closes all its stores in Russia
French cosmetics company L’Occitane has announced that it is closing all its offline and online stores in Russia. The company explained this decision with a desire to protect its employees around the world from “potential public aggression”, given the “enormous human suffering” caused by the situation in Ukraine.
The company condemned the special military operation that started in the country on February 24 at the instruction of Vladimir Putin and suspended supplies and investments in Russia.
Two days before the store closure was announced, L’Occitane management claimed that the company would not leave the Russian market entirely so that 700 employees were not harmed.
In Russia, L’Occitane had more than a hundred stores. The company will support Russian employees and continue to pay their salaries.
Following the start of the special operation in Ukraine, brands such as L’Oreal, Estee Lauder, Sephora, LUSH, Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Céline, Givenchy, Make Up For Ever and many more suspended their activities in Russia.
