BBC is creating seven assistant commissioner roles
Britain’s BBC is creating seven deputy commissioner posts to increase its impact outside London and within under-represented groups in the capital. Five of the roles are cast in the countries and regions – as British broadcasters refer to areas outside London – of which four focus on factual content and one on children’s entertainment. The London-based roles will focus on deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent TV talent, with one scripted and the other unscripted. Since launching a strategy called Across the UK, the BBC has increased the number of start-ups outside London by seven to 24. The new rolls are extra, bringing that number to 31.
