WTF of the day: An Elizabeth II guard yells at a tourist in London

Usually silent, one of the Queen’s royal guards in London literally yelled at a tourist who dared to touch the reins of her horse.

This is a video that has been causing a stir lately. Shared on TikTok by the son-in-law of the person being scolded aloud, a guard of Elizabeth II on horseback can be seen scolding a tourist who had the audacity to touch his horse and his reins.

“Tget away from the royal guard!

In the video, seen more than 5 million times, the tourist approaches the guard on horseback to take a picture at his side, and grabs the reins of the mount to make him pose too. Gesture that earned him the reproaches of the Royal guard on horseback yelling at him, in English:

Stay away from the royal guard! Don’t touch the reins!

Yes, it is amazing. Although being scolded must not have been the most pleasant moment of her trip, the video of this tourist reminds us that it is forbidden for the public, as foreseen on all the billboards next to the guards, to touch the mounts and feed them.

The guards, characters we are used to seeing mute under all circumstances, are there to protect the Queen, and touching the reindeer or horses can be seen as an attempt to obstruct their duty. They are not an attraction, they are soldiers and they are just doing their job.

Well, of course, the latter may need a vacation. Remember that underneath these beautiful hats there are also human beings, who frankly can be tired of dealing with thousands of tourists a day … Tourists who often try to conquer those who are hired for one thing: to serve and protect the queen ( closing the mouth).

Come on, a round of chamomile tea for everyone!
