Katie Cates of ICM joins the artists first as a manager

exclusive: Kathy Cates, former ICM Partners literary and television packaging agent, becomes manager of Artists First. Cates has spent the past eight years at ICM, working with writers, directors, actors, comedians and musicians. She is one of the ICM agents who left on the eve of the CAA takeover of the agency.

At ICM, Cates has worked with established writers / showrunners such as John Shiban (Ozark), Meredith Lavender and Marcy Ulin (flight attendant), Mateo Carnahan (House of lies) and Christy Stratton (a modern family), Michael Nader (Ojin’s face), Karin Gist (our kind of people) Betsy Thomas (My children), Angeli Milano (boomerang) and Matthew Newman (a great game), as well as future voices such as Marcos Luevanos (i love the winner), Emilia Serrano (Promised Land), Michel Badillo (A championship in its own right), writer / director Becca Gleason (while you are breeding), creators Tim Schauer and Kuba Soltyziak (bu beach) and playwrights Lauren Y (Pachinko) and Noah Diaz (nine complete strangers).

Cates began his agency career at Kaplan Stahler, where he spent four years. He joined ICM in 2014 after a short stint with Resolution.
