Host of the YouTube show “And talk?” Irina Shikhman commented on the news that the Gogol Center Theater was closed on Instagram * and published a big farewell post.
Shikhman wrote.
On June 29, the Moscow Ministry of Culture announced the dismissal of the artistic director of the Gogol Center, Alexei Agranovich. That same evening, its first artistic director, Kirill Serebrennikov, announced the closure of the theater.
Many stars, including Svetlana Bondarchuk, Varvara Shmykova, Yang Ge, Aglaya Tarasova, did not step aside and said goodbye to the Gogol Center in their social networks. At the same time, the Ministry of Culture insists that the theater is not closed, it just changed management and the group will continue to work.
Kirill Serebrennikov left his post as artistic director of the Gogol Center in February last year. In March 2022, after the conviction in the Seventh Studio case was rescinded, the director, who publicly condemned the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, left Russia. A month ago, Serebrennikov presented his new film “Tchaikovsky’s Wife” at the Cannes Film Festival.
