Updated “First Date” musical premiered at Mask Theater

In Moscow, they are talking about love again – the premiere of the new version of the musical “First Date” took place at the Mask Theater (MDM). The hall was full: artists, journalists and just spectators came to the performance, missing the light and romantic stories.

The play tells the story of two opposite people, humble financier Aaron and confident Casey, who find themselves on a blind date. An hour and a half on stage – and the audience lives with them with antics, flirting, jokes and, of course, the “click” sound. “Love, music and humor are what you always need!” – Anastasia Stotskaya shared, congratulating her colleagues on the premiere. Irina Bezrukova also admitted that she saw the first version and fell in love with it again: “In the updated version there are new colors and jokes, but the main thing is that the belief in love remains the same.”

The production is presented by Broadway Moscow with the support of MTS Live and in partnership with Yandex Afisha. Yandex Afisha Business Development Director Enrico Mazavrishvili added that “productions created in partnership with Broadway Moscow are always in the top 10 on the site.”

“First Date” has long been loved by the public, but now the game has noticeably changed: new scenery, modern humor and visual effects have brought the story closer to today’s audience. Before returning to Moscow, the updated production had already been shown in China, where the Russian group was greeted with sold-out houses.

Behind the musical is producer Dmitry Bogachev, who gave the audience “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Mamma Mia!” “This story is about all of us; it’s about the quirks, the expectations, the hopes that love will come true,” he says. Actors: Yulia Churakova and Pavel Stukalov. “When I read the script, it felt like it was about me,” Yulia admits. “This is an honest story about how difficult and beautiful it is to be yourself.”
