The prosecutor of Moscow’s Presnensky Court demanded an eight-year prison sentence in a general regime colony for blogger Ayaz Shabutdinov in a particularly large-scale fraud case.
He is accused of deceiving 113 subscribers and customers, TASS reported. In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant faces a fine of more than 15 million rubles and a ban on conducting educational activities on the Internet for five years.
While there was a discussion between the parties in the courtroom today, Ayaz was also present in person. His behavior attracted attention: the blogger was reading the book “Doctor Zhivago” and looked relaxed, which caused mixed reactions from the audience. The decision is expected at the next hearing.
The case caused wide repercussions in the media community. Ayaz Shabutdinov is known for his online training courses and popularity on social networks. He is accused of fraud of large sums of money through the sale of low-quality or unreliable educational products.
The prosecutor also requested that Ayaz be banned from online educational activities for 5 years. According to researchers, it was this activity that became the main source of exploitation and deception of customers.
