The International Skating Union (ISU) allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games qualifying competitions with neutral status. This is stated on the ISU website.
The organization’s council proposed adopting the IOC experience on the performance of Russian and Belarusian athletes in neutral status and extending it to the 2026 Games in Milan (Italy). For this, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) and the Russian Skating Union (SKR) must apply for participation in the qualifying competitions by February 28, 2025 at the latest.
Let us remind you that the ban on athletes participating in competitions has been in effect since 2022. The ISU website states that the easing of measures was influenced by the IOC’s recommendations and the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
